vIDEO

During my time at Jacksonville State University, I took various video recording/editing courses. Here you will find a few of those works I produced in those courses, whether it was short or long form of content.

  • Role: Director, Editor, Videographer

  • Format: News Package

  • Gear: Canon EOS 90D, Zoom H6

  • Software: Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Audition

The Brief: During a Multimedia Design course I took, we were instructed to have a theme for our final project and create blogs, podcast episodes, and videos (2 of each) revolving around that specific theme. I chose to discuss the reality of Banned Books. I wanted my first video to be a vlog, as many Gen Z and Millennial individuals seem to enjoy this type of video. I recorded in the Jacksonville Public Library, searching for children’s books that were currently being removed or challenged from schools and other public libraries in Alabama.

Project: What is Formal Recruitment For Panhellenic Sororities

  • Role: Director, Editor, Videographer

  • Format: News Package

  • Gear: Canon EOS 90D, Zoom H6, Handheld Microphone

  • Software: Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Audition

The Brief: This was my first news package for my Senior Capstone. As a member of a sorority, I thought it would be nice to record a news package around what Formal recruitment is for those who are curious, as Formal Recruitment takes at least 10 months to prepare.

Project: SGA Transfer of Officers

  • Role: Director, Editor, Videographer

  • Format: News Package

  • Gear: Canon EOS 90D, Zoom H6, Handheld Microphone

  • Role: Director, Editor, Videographer

  • Format: News Package

  • Gear: Canon EOS 90D, Zoom H6, Handheld Microphone

  • Software: Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Audition

The Brief: This was my 3rd news package for my Senior Capstone. I wanted to focus on going to an event outside of Jax State and find a story that could be found in one of Jacksonville, Alabama’s local shops. Mad Hatter Cupcakes was the perfect spot, for it is a very popular spot for students, locals, and visitors to enjoy a sweet treat. They were hosting a party for their weekly “Saturday Menu” theme, revolving around the release of Harry Styles’ 4th studio album.

This 60-second promotional spot markets my weekly student radio show on Jax State's 92J (WLJS 91.9 FM). As my first venture into commercial video production, I designed the piece to capture the high energy of live broadcasting and invite new listeners to tune in.

Project: Interview With Author Tim Lockette About Banned Books

Project: Searching For Banned Kid’s Book At My Local Library Vlog

  • Gear: Canon EOS 90D, Zoom H6, Light Kit

The Brief: As part of my Banned Books project for my Multimedia Design course, I wanted my second video to be a more of an interview piece. This way, I could appeal to older audience members. I worked with Mr. Tim Lockette, a professor at Jacksonville State University, and an author of 3 novels. I asked him about his opinion over the banning book culture dilemma we currently face not only in Alabama, but around the nation.

With special permission from Jax State’s Athletics, I was able to record footage and interview some of the Men’s Basketball players after their win against University of Delaware at the Pete Mathew’s Coliseum.

  • Format: News Package

  • Gear: Canon EOS 90D, Zoom H6, Handheld Microphone

  • Software: Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Audition

The Brief: This was my final news package for my Senior Capstone Course. I wanted to highlight Jacksonville State University’s first official All-Female ensemble. The Music Department has created many mixed and all-male ensembles and small groups, but never an all-female group. Aurora Brass strives to show that women are capable of striving for more within the different music fields.

The Brief:This video was a group assignment in which the 4 of us had to record audio and video. However, we all needed to submit individual videos, and so all editing decisions were up to ourselves. I was inspired to do a video around what it meant to be a Communication Major/Minor after watching informational videos that Jax State would post about different studies and programs they offer. I was the Director for our group and wrote the script for this assignment.
